June 10, 2022- Today, we launched our hybrid event model combining the in-person events in Miami, Florida and New York City with our virtual platform. These events provided both in-person and virtual attendees access to Alpha-1 education, experts and peers.

Thank you to our Miami hosts Dr. Mark Brantly and Dr. Michael Campos and our New York City hosts Dr. Jeanine D’Armiento and Dr. Monica Goldklang at Columbia University. We learned so much from Dr. Brantly’s presentation on “COVID-19 and Moving Forward” and from Dr. Dana Goldner on “Pediatric Liver Transplant”. Additional presentations held at these two in-person events will be available on the platform next week.
The breakout sessions provided a great opportunity for attendees to chat with our experts in smaller groups. Thank you for joining these sessions and for asking such great questions.
Thank you to Takeda for beginning the day with a fun trivia event on Kahoot! with Trevor Pitzel. The competition was fierce between the music lovers and the science experts, everyone had a blast.
Thank you to CSL Behring and Joan Higginbotham, Retired NASA Astronaut, Rocket Scientist, Electrical Engineer, Third African American Woman in Space for the keynote presentation “Managing Stress in High Stakes Environments”. Joan shared her exciting journey through her career at NASA and her story of perseverance. She gave us insight on how to build endurance both physically and mentally to prepare for any obstacles life might throw our way.
