Raising Alpha-1 Awareness at Drive-In Movie Night

In honor of their father’s 80th birthday, Donald Helms Jr. and Donna Flowers are determined to spread awareness and raise funds for Alpha-1 by organizing a Drive-In movie night. On Thursday, October 27th at 7:00 pm at Hulls Drive-In, The Helms and Flowers families are excited to invite the local Lexington, Virginia community to watch “Thunder Road”: their dad’s favorite movie that was also locally filmed in Southern Western Virginia. They are excited for a great night of awareness and to bring back a fun night of an old-time tradition of the drive-in. It has been so many years since their dad had attended one. 

Donna’s brother, Donald Jr. is the recent receipt of a liver transplant. He received his transplant at Duke Medical Center in July 2022. The family learned of their Alpha-1 diagnosis through Donald’s diagnosis about seven years ago.
