REQUEST FOR APPLICATION: AB REES FAST TRACK GRANTS
The newly announced Ab Rees Fast Track Grant is aimed at promoting biomarker research on the liver and/or lung disease associated with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) that will generate federal funding to improve the clinical trial design in Alpha-1. This program is designed to support a wide range of meritorious biomarker research related to Alpha-1, including basic laboratory investigators, epidemiology, clinical genetics, and imaging research.
GOALS OF THE AB REES FAST TRACK GRANTS AWARD PROGRAM
Applicants from around the world must utilize the Alpha-1 Foundation research resources of:
- The Alpha-1 Research Registry, a database of diagnosed individuals and carriers available for participation in research studies and clinical trials.
- The Alpha-1 Biomarkers Consortium (A1BC), an NHLBI research study currently enrolling 270 PiZZ participants for longitudinal data collection. All participants in the A1BC must agree to share data with the Alpha-1 Research Registry.
Specifically, this RFA is to generate ancillary data for the A1BC program that has just begun to enroll participants with a baseline visit to one of 9 United States clinical centers. For more information about the A1BC, please visit About A1BC | A1BC (researchinalpha1.org)
