Grassroots advocacy personalizes the issues that matter most to you, empowering you to inform legislators that may not be familiar with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and help to move forward our public policy agenda. We encourage you to become an active Advocate on behalf of the Alpha-1 Foundation. Alpha-1 Advocates can be a powerful force when members are united in advancing public policy that is relevant to issues that affect individuals living with Alpha-1. You can help influence the outcome of legislation and make a difference for yourself, your loved ones and for the Alpha-1 community.
The key to effective advocacy is knowing about the process, the issue, goals, facts, strategy, allies, opposition and the people, who will make a difference in the success or failure of the campaign. The battle goes to the prepared, and the familiar adage of “knowledge is power” provides significant advantage in this process. This Advocacy Training video will help you in that battle. It will not only help you hold effective legislative meetings and become skilled on how to tell your unique Alpha-1 story, but it will also help you campaign on specific federal and state issues that may arise in your district.
