2020 Virtual Alpha-1 Foundation Investigators’ Meeting
Friday, November 6, 2020 from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm ET
Spotlight on the international impact of 25 years of the Alpha-1 Foundation’s research investment
The Investigators’ Meeting is an opportunity to learn about the international impact the Alpha-1 Foundation has had on Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) research over the past 25 years.
Hear as Dr. Mark Brantly, Scientific Director of the Alpha-1 Foundation, reflects on a quarter-century of Alpha-1 research and how we have moved the needle to be where we are today, with new therapeutics on the horizon. Dr. Mark Brantly has helped guide the scientific progress and success of the Alpha-1 Foundation and Alpha-1 research over the last 25 years, helping the Foundation grow into a globally recognized research and support organization that reaches thousands of Alpha-1 patients, clinicians, and investigators around the world. The Investigators’ Meeting will feature a scientific speaker as the 2nd keynote presentation on COVID-19.
The afternoon program will include four topics showcasing the research and science of recent Alpha-1 grant recipients segmented into Therapy for Lung and Liver, Cell Molecular Biology – Liver, Cell Molecular Biology – Lung, and Clinical Studies. Each session will have a designated chair or co-chairs who will present a 20-minute overview of the research described in the abstracts that pertain to their session titles and will facilitate conversation during the meeting. After the 20-minute abstracts overview, the chair will introduce a young investigator who will give a 10-minute presentation highlighting their Alpha-1 research updates. Each session will end with a 15-minute Q&A with the investigators moderated by the session chairs.
The Investigators’ Meeting will conclude with an interactive session where the Alpha-1 patient community will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to Alpha-1’s leading scientific investigators and a virtual cocktail reception will follow.
The meeting will take place on a virtual event platform and will feature an exhibit with presentations from the Foundation’s 2020 Alpha-1 grant recipients.
