Texas hold ’em, euchre tournament proceeds go to Alpha-1 Foundation research programs

CLARKSTON, Minn — The American Legion of Clarkston will sponsor a Texas hold ‘em and euchre tournament for Alpha-1 research on Saturday, Nov. 12.

All of the proceeds will go to the Alpha-1 Foundation for its research programs. Those wishing to participate in either game will be asked for a $20 donation at the door. Doors will open at 3 p.m.; the games will begin at 4 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.

Even if you do not participate in the games, you can still attend and make a donation! Guests can take part in the silent auction and prize raffles or just come and enjoy free pizza, soft drinks and live entertainment.

Please note that children will not be allowed at the event.

“Great thanks to the American Legion for donating the proceeds to the Alpha-1 Foundation and supporting research for a cure,” said Jeanette Therrian, event organizer.

Having lost both her brother and sister to Alpha-1 and being an Alpha herself, Therrian knows the importance of research. “I would love for a cure to be found, if not in my lifetime, at least in my kids; or grandbaby’s lifetime.”

Last year, she raised $5,500 and she hopes to match that amount this year.

For more information on the event and how you can donate, contact Therrian at (284)-736-5804 or via email at jltherrian@live.com.
