The Alpha-1 Association’s Genetic Counseling Center (1-800-785-3177) offers free phone-based confidential information and resources to Alphas, family members and medical professionals on the genetics of Alpha-1 and provides information on testing options. Specifically, the Center: 

  • Provides information about inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources and research.
  • Helps people understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease.
  • Provides supportive counseling and referral to community or state support services.
  • Promotes informed choices and adaptation to the risk or condition and review available testing options with the family.
