Research Opportunities

Jeffrey Teckman,M.D. is studying the Contribution of Genetic Modulators of Disease Severity in Alpha-1 and Cystic Fibrosis. He is recruiting individuals with Alpha-1 liver disease to look for the CF gene and other genes that may be part of what causes the liver problems. The goal of the project is to get a better understanding of the genetic mechanisms affecting Alpha-1 which will ultimately result in better ways of predicting disease severity; and new treatments for Alpha-1. He will recruit and draw blood during the National Education Conference for this study.
