Most Congressional offices handle emails as they do letters.

In order to contact your Senator or Representative by e-mail:

• Access their websites at www.house.gov (for Congressmen) and www.senate.gov (for Senators).
• Make a search for the Senator or Representative representing your state.
• Once you are redirected to their website, you will be able to send an e-mail directly to their office.

By using the same guidelines for writing an effective letter, your e-mail will receive the attention of your legislator and his/her staff members. Due to the increasing amount of e-mails that are sent to legislators, informal e-mails will perhaps not get across as you would like it to.

Be sure to include in your e-mail, your home address and telephone number so the legislator will know who sent the e-mail.
