The Alpha-1 Association is a member-based not-profit organization
dedicated to identifying those affected by Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) and to improve the quality of their lives through support, education, advocacy and to encourage participation in research. Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1), a genetic disorder that can cause liver and lung disease in children and adults.
Virtual Transplant Support Group
A Virtual Transplant Support Group has been organized to provide information and resources for Alphas considering a lung or liver transplant and to connect them with Alphas who have undergone a lung or liver transplant. To learn more click here.
Disaster Relief Fund
A Disaster Relief Fund is available to support Alphas affected by natural disasters. If you need assistance, please contact Cathey Horsak at ANYTIME (877-346-3212). This fund provides funding for emergencies resulting from a disaster such as evacuation costs, temporary hotel stays, damaged property, etc. This fund was established by a seed grant from Talecris Biotherapeutics. Other corporate sponsors include: Baxter and CSL Behring.
COMMUNITY DISCUSSION FORUM
The Alpha-1 Community Discussion Forum provides an online meeting place for individuals and family members personally affected by Alpha-1.
