Miriam O’Day is Senior Director of Public Policy for the Alpha-1 Association and the Alpha-1 Foundation. Ms. O’Day manages the Federal Public Policy Program, both legislative and regulatory and staffs the Washington based coalition activates including close collaboration with the COPD Community. Ms. O’Day coordinates testimony and position statements with the voluntary leadership. Since March 2006, she has been responsible form Federal Legislative Affairs for the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). On behalf of AARC, Ms. O’Day is working to pass legislation that will allow respiratory therapists within the Medicare system to improve patient access. She is working closely with the COPD Congressional Caucus to pass legislation that will ensue pulmonary rehabilitation access for all Medicare beneficiaries. In addition Ms. O’Day provides public policy consulting for the COPD Foundation and NTM Information and Referral which serves individuals with Nontuberculous Mycobacteria Disease (NTM). Prior to launching her own consulting practice, Ms. O’Day was the Vice President of the Immune Deficiency Foundation where she developed expertise in consumer advocacy and blood product safety.
