Profile:

Being the Alpha 1 support group leader for the State of Connecticut is just one of the many ways Ed is involved as a volunteer for the Alpha 1 Association.    As a bike team leader for the American Lung Association Bike Trek at Cape Cod, he spearheaded “Team Brailey”, comprised of firefighters, police officers, and life long friends.   Ed reports that over the past 6 years, they have raised thousands of dollars to support a cure for Alpha 1, through the trek, spaghetti dinners, silent auctions, and raffles.

Residing in East Lyme, Connecticut with his wife JoAnne Ed is a retired firefighter and Vice President of Shipman’s Fire Equip. Co. and has accomplished much in his lifetime.  He is a member of the Elks, New London County Fire Chiefs Assoc., Niantic Baptist Church Board of Trustees, and a volunteer with the Niantic Fire Department for over 40 years.  After undergoing a single lung transplant in May of 2002, he has also been volunteering for the New England Organ Bank a group which is near to his heart.  A few of his many hobbies are managing Little League Baseball, horseshoes, bowling, biking and working in his yard.  Ed looks forward to many years serving the Alpha Community and being just a small part of helping Alpha’s and finding a cure.
