Cathey Horsak, Director of Community Programs and Outreach, works with Alpha-1 Association Support Groups throughout the United States and with the Support Group Leader Advisory Council to set policy and guidelines for local Support Groups. Cathey works from her office in Texas and is responsible for providing direction, support and guidance to the newly diagnosed Alphas who call the association. Cathey first became involved with the Association as a volunteer after the death of her MZ liver-affected husband, Richard. As a speaker at Education Days and Support Group Meetings, Cathey has shared her experiences as a caregiver to a liver affected Alpha, detailing Richard’s Alpha story. As an employee of the Alpha-1 Association, Cathey provides updates on Association programs and goals.
