Profile:

Allen Russell was diagnosed with Alpha-1 liver disease in 1999, following an initial diagnosis of asthma. In the fall of 2002, he underwent a liver transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Since then, he has been involved in a clinical trial under the direction of Dr. Mark Brantly. Allen has written about his personal experience of diagnosis, transplant and recovery... in a journal that is honest, down to earth, full of emotional testimony about transplantation, and was published as his first book titled Heroes of My Transplant in July, 2006.  He is from suburban Atlanta.
